Early voting for the Nov. 8 general election began Tuesday and continues through Nov. 5 at most Big Island polling locations. Poll workers at the Hilo location Wednesday said turnout was steady during the first day and a half.

The Hilo, Kona and Waimea locations are open through Nov. 5. The Pahala location is open through Nov. 3.

Polling times and locations for Hawaii County are:

Hilo

• 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday through Saturday, Hawaii County Aupuni Center Conference Room, 101 Pauahi St., Suite 1.

Kailua-Kona

• 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday through Saturday, West Hawaii Civic Center Community Room (Building G), 74-5044 Ane Keohokalole Highway.

Waimea

• 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday; 8 a.m.-noon Saturday, Waimea Community Center, 65-1260 Kawaihae Road

Pahala

• 9 a.m.-3 p.m. (closed noon-1 p.m.), Monday through Friday, Pahala Community Center, 96-1149 Kamani St.

Voters also can mail in an early ballot for the election. Requests for a mail ballot must be received by the County Clerk by Tuesday.
